Cookie policy

Last updated: October 2026

This page explains the cookies and similar technologies (such as browser storage) that Nuanso uses on our website (nuanso.io) and in the Nuanso app (app.nuanso.io), and how you choose which ones you allow. It is written to meet the EU ePrivacy rules as applied in Belgium (Article 129 of the Belgian Electronic Communications Act of 13 June 2005) and the GDPR.

Nuanso is run by Sam Van Nuffel (sole proprietorship), Brusselsepoortstraat 134, 9000 Gent, Belgium, company number 0714.916.229. Questions: hello@nuanso.io.

What cookies are, and the rule we follow

Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser; browser storage (localStorage, sessionStorage) works in a similar way. We only use cookies that are strictly necessary for the site or app to work without asking you. Every other cookie, and every tool that sets one, is only loaded after you agree. If you make no choice, only necessary cookies are used.

1. The Nuanso app (app.nuanso.io)

Your choice

On your first visit, a banner asks whether you allow analytics. "Accept" and "Reject" are equally easy. Nothing beyond the necessary cookies is set or loaded until you choose.

You can change your mind at any time with the "Cookie settings" link: in the user menu once you are signed in, or at the bottom left of pages without a menu (such as the login page). When you withdraw your consent, Nuanso stops Amplitude and deletes the cookies it set in your browser.

We remember your choice for 6 months, then ask again. We also ask again if we change what a category covers.

Necessary (always on)

These keep you signed in and protect your account. Nuanso does not work without them. None of them are shared with anyone else.

Name Type Purpose Lasts
nuanso.sid Cookie (first-party, HTTP-only, secure) Keeps you signed in 7 days
nuanso.consent Browser storage (localStorage) Remembers your cookie choice (analytics yes/no, and when you chose) 6 months
nuno-chat-draft, report-panel-closed:… Browser storage (sessionStorage) Keeps an unsent chat message, and whether you closed the report panel, for this tab only Until you close the tab
advisor-sidebar-open and presentation settings Browser storage (localStorage) Remembers layout preferences Until you clear your browser storage

Analytics (only with your consent)

Tool What it does Cookies Lasts Provider
Amplitude Records which pages and buttons you use, and that you signed up or logged in; records sessions as a replay in which all text and everything you type is hidden and images, video and canvases are blocked (only layout and clicks remain); runs experiments and in-app guides. Linked to your account (email, name, workspace) once you sign in AMP_…, AMP_MKTG_… 1 year Amplitude, Inc., EU data centre

No marketing cookies

The app uses no advertising or marketing cookies, pixels or tags.

Pages that never track

Shared report links (/r/…), client links (/c/…) and the export pages Nuanso uses to make PDFs (/x/…) load no analytics tools at all, and show no banner, whatever you chose. Their address contains a private key, and no third party should see it.

No other third-party requests

The app's fonts are served from our own servers. Apart from Amplitude (and only after your consent), your browser does not connect to third parties while you use the app, except when you choose to connect an ad platform or sign in with Google.

2. Our website (nuanso.io)

The website has its own cookie banner. On your first visit it asks whether you allow analytics and marketing cookies; until you accept, only necessary cookies are used and no analytics or marketing tags are loaded. You can change your choice at any time with the "Cookie settings" button, which is always visible on the website.

Category Tool What it does Cookies Lasts Provider
Necessary Cookie banner Remembers your cookie choice Browser storage set by our website builder (Framer) Until you change your choice or clear your browser storage Nuanso (stored only in your browser)
Analytics Google Analytics 4 Measures visits to our website: pages viewed, where visitors come from, the device and approximate location _ga, _ga_… 2 years Google Ireland Ltd
Marketing Meta Pixel Measures whether our ads on Facebook and Instagram lead to visits and sign-ups, and lets us show our ads to people who visited our website _fbp, _fbc 90 days Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd

Server-side tagging. Google Analytics and the Meta Pixel send their data first to our own tagging server at sst.nuanso.io, run on our behalf by Google Cloud (Google Ireland Ltd) in the EU (West Europe), which forwards it to Google and Meta. This lets us control what is sent: the server only forwards data when you have accepted that category in the banner, and does not add data from other sources.

Google and Meta may combine this data with other data they hold about you, under their own privacy policies: Google, Meta.

3. Transfers outside the EU

Google and Meta (website only) may process data in the United States. Both are certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. Amplitude (app only) stores our data in its EU data centre. See our subprocessors page.

4. Deleting cookies yourself

You can also delete or block cookies in your browser settings. If you block necessary cookies, you will not be able to sign in to the app.

5. Changes

We update this page when the cookies we use change, and change the date above. If we add a tool to a category, we ask for your consent again.
